We admit that the Baby Trend products are famous in the United States. So, we wanted to give the Baby Trend Expedition Jogger Stroller a chance and see what the hype is about.

It is safe to say that the stroller is built of good quality materials. It is light on the pocket and great for everyday use.

Before we begin, we would like to tell you that this stroller – and others, have gone through rigorous testing. We let it ride down sloppy hills, ran at different speeds, timed the folding and opening, dragged it through all sorts of terrains, etc. After all that, would we recommend this stroller? We sure would!

Company Review

Baby Trend Expedition Jogger Stroller Review - Company Review

Baby Trend has been in the market for over 26 years. It has practically become a household name by now. From coming up with the first sit and stand styled strollers to infant car seats that instantly become a stroller, Baby Trend has some of the most innovative solutions for parents. It is safe to say that people, including us,  expect a lot whenever they launch a new product.

Baby Trend

They have quite a wide range of products, like infant car seats, bouncers, high chairs, swings, etc to name a few. We have reviewed quite a lot of their products and we were mostly very happy with the outcomes.

Baby Trend Expedition Jogger Stroller Review

The Baby Trend Expedition Jogger Stroller is a very popular jogging stroller. Its front wheel comes with a lockable swivel feature which is ideal for people with active lifestyles. Since it comes at such an affordable price, it has become a go-to jogging stroller for parents in the US.

It offers some great features that you would normally see in a high-end stroller. However, it does not look as sleek as others. It makes up for its lack of appearance with functionality and ease of use.

We are sure all parents look for the comfort of their child while buying a stroller. The Expedition is designed while keeping our babies in mind. Our baby was cozy and happy in the padded seat. The five-point harness gave us the peace of mind that we always need about his safety.

  • Lightweight
  • Ideal for any terrain
  • Equipped with all-terrain tires
  • Tires release quickly
  • Very cheap
  • Lacks shock absorbers
  • Tires may need constant maintenance and refilling

What Is The Ideal Age For The Expedition Jogger Stroller?

Baby Trend Expedition Jogger Stroller Review - Ideal Age

We would recommend that your baby should at least be able to hold their head before you put them in any stroller. The Baby Trend Expedition Jogger Stroller is recommended to be used when your baby is at least 6 months old. That way, your baby will be safe and comfortable in the seat. You can use this until your child is at least 2 years old. Many people use it until their kid reaches the age of 3. Remember that the stroller won’t be able to carry over 50 pounds – well above the age of an average toddler.

If your child is bigger, then you will need to get a big kid stroller. Be sure to check out our list of big kid strollers that might help you in finding the perfect stroller for them.

Rating Breakdown: What do customers say?

When we were testing out different strollers, the Baby Trend Expedition Jogger Stroller always stood out. This is mainly because you will find it at such a budget friendly price that you, like us, would mostly come back to it. You will love this because it comes with features that are normally present in strollers twice its price. We believe that if something can perform at the optimized level at half the price, then it is always worth looking into.

In this section we will review how the Expedition performed during our testing. We set it up, folded it, ran with it, went on all sorts of surfaces, put extra weights – you name it!

Set Up  (Rating 8/10)

The stroller was quite easy to set up. It didn’t take us long to figure out what went where. This is one of those stroller where you will think that it took too little time to be true. But rest assured, you probably did it right. For us, and generally for most parents, it is always nice to have equipment that is easy to install. The last thing I want is to call an engineer or look up complicated youtube videos just to set up a stroller.

Folding: (Rating 7/10)

We know that storing a stroller in your car is important. You don’t want it to take a lot of space. So, when we folded this stroller, we were very happy! It folded into a really small size and we could easily put it at the back of our car. A solid 7 because we have seen some extremely small after-folding strollers.

Run-Ability (Rating 7/10)

Okay, so both my husband and I tested this one out. We ran for a solid ten minutes on different terrains, like our neighborhood pavement, park, road, etc. It is safe to say that we were pleasantly surprised. It withstood whatever surface it was on and the ride was fun. We would like to mention that when we picked up speed, it did start getting wobbly. This was fixed later on, but it made us realize that it is not built for high-speed runners. So, if you are one of those people who run like there is no tomorrow, you might want to skip this one.

Ease Of Use (Rating 7/10)

The stroller is easy to use. You don’t have to hunch down or be on your toes. It has an adjustable handlebar, so your hand will be ergonomically placed. We liked this feature a lot because my husband is tall and he isn’t comfortable using many other strollers. The Expedition is great for people who are taller than the average person.

Maneuverability (Rating 8/10)

The front wheel comes with a swivel feature, so you can always adjust it to your liking. If you are going out for a jog, lock that wheel in and keep it stable. We actually loved how easy it was to maneuver it, not only on plain surfaces, but on all sorts of terrain. One of our friends even took her stroller on dirt and sand. Needless to say, it was an easy and comfy ride.

Quality (Rating 7/10)

The kicker for this stroller is most definitely its affordability. You would expect that at such a low price, there is bound to be some quality cuts here and there. Since it gives you features that you would normally find in high-end strollers, we expected it be made of lower quality materials. But the stroller exceeded our expectation substantially. It is made of durable steel and high-quality plastic. Yes, we do normally stay away from plastic, but the Expedition made us think otherwise.

Safety (Rating: 8/10)

The Expedition comes with adequate safety. There is five point harness which should always be prefered over three point harness. What we loved most about the safety features was the safety tether. It is secured to the rear axle and you are always in contact with your stroller. Generally, this is attached to the handle. In the case that someone falls down, the stroller is flipped backwards. This can be very dangerous! Why isn’t safety rating a 10? Well, we do believe that there is always room for maximizing safety.

Stroller Dimensions

The dimension of the Expedition at standing and folded position is 21 x 47 x 41 inches and 23.5 x 16.75 x 33.75 inches, respectively. This is pretty standard for any jogging stroller. The seat back height is 17 inches,

Stroller Weight

The stroller weighs 21.7 pounds which is pretty standard for a jogging stroller. It has a weight capacity of 50 lbs – pretty DECENT. When we added a bit more weight on it, the stroller withstood the weight. However, we don’t recommend you try it as it will compromise your child’s safety. Plus, you wouldn’t be very comfortable using it.

Baby Trend Expedition Jogger Stroller Review - Features

1. Material

The Expedition Stroller is lightweight and high in quality. It is made of steel and plastic – no ordinary plastic, but high-quality and durable plastic. The steel is light in weight and provides overall strength to the stroller. We recommend that whenever you are purchasing a stroller, always go for high-quality materials like alloys and steel. Stay away from cheap plastic – you would only be asking for trouble.

2. Swivel Wheel

Whether you are looking for a single, a double, or even a triple stroller, we highly recommend you get one whose front wheel swivels. If you are running for a long time and your path is straight, you will want a locked front wheel. Luckily for us, the Expedition comes with both these options. This allows you to take sharp turns through the neighborhood or even run a marathon. The tires are big; they are bicycle tires. Safe to say, it can be maneuvered on all terrains.

3. Brakes

Much like any other great stroller, the brakes are placed right next to your feet. Once we pushed down the red lever, the stroller stayed in its place. We also checked its safety on a downhill slope. It is safe to say that the Baby Trend Expedition did not disappoint us. The stroller stood right where we left it. Although the stroller does not come with a hand brake, it is something that we have went without for quite a long time. We believe that it is a nice feature, but you are set even without it.

4. What About The Safety Harness?

Now, most parents know that three-point harnesses are better than five-point harnesses. The Baby Expedition comes with a five-point harness, so you are sure your baby is going to be safe. The seat also comes with multi-recline positions. We would try different positions and find the best and most comfortable one for our baby. We recommend you always buy a five-point harness whenever it is possible. Personally we would never get anything less than that.

5. The Seat Is Okay

The Baby Trend Jogging Stroller has a padded seat just like any other stroller. However, we think that the padding could have been better. For some kids, it may be too similar to an umbrella stroller – something younger kids often refuse to use. We also had to put blankets on the sides since there isn’t any.

6. The Canopy Is Cool

Another thing that stands out in the Baby Expedition is its canopy. It is large and can be adjusted to cover most of your baby. You can hang down the flap to keep the sun out of your baby’s eyes. If you are not using it, simple roll it up and it is out of the way.

Is it Compatible With An Infant Car Seat?

Before we set out to try this stroller, we were concerned if it would be compatible with any infant car seat. Soon we figured out that it fits perfectly with the Baby Trend Flex-Loc Infant Car Seat. We do not recommend you try to force your car seat onto the stroller. This may very well be detrimental for both the car seat and the stroller. For the price of the stroller, you can even buy a Baby Trend car seat.

Storage Space

We think that parent console and storage basket should not be an add-on. Some brands make amazing strollers and travel systems, but cut out these necessary features. So, we were glad to see that the Baby Trend Expedition comes with a parent console and storage basket. Granted, the basket can sometimes be hard to reach when your baby is sitting, but it is big enough to put in a couple of things. The parent console, however, is much easier to access . It is within your arm’s reach. You can place your water bottle and keys there.

Fold And Go

Okay so one of the most important things for us is the foldability of any stroller. This is because when we go out for shopping or any indoor place, we want an easy folding and unfolding. The last thing you would want is to waste extra time on taking out your stroller while your baby cries in your arms. Plus, whenever we are headed back, we are just too tired to wrestle with the stroller. We want it to be quickly tucked in at the back of our car.

Since this is a jogging stroller, you would expect it to be bulkier. Granted that it does look like it, but you could not be farther from the truth. Fact is, it is very easy to push. We do not like getting in people’s way, especially indoors. We found that the Baby Expedition Stroller does not take much space either. You will be going around people quickly and with ease.

There’s An Exception

Now that we know what the Expedition can do, there was one problem we faced. The ride was generally smooth and well. However, when we picked up the speed, the front wheel would start wobbling. Now, this would not be a problem if you are walking on a straight line. You can just lock the front wheel and you are set. But if you are going to be taking turns or picking up back wheels, it will bother you. Did it make us miss our all-terrain stroller? Sometimes. If you can look past this exception, we are sure you will also love this stroller.

Things To Consider

Before you buy any stroller, you should look at its ease of travel, accessories and comfort level. You can have the best stroller, but it won’t go far if it can’t fit in the back of your car. We are happy to say that the Expedition passes all these tests with flying colors.

How Much Should You Pay For The Stroller?

We can’t say this for every parent out there, but most of us do not want to spend more than $200 on a stroller. Anything over $500 does not really add much value to the overall product.

The Baby Trend strollers come at some of the most affordable prices – around $120 for the most basic one.

Amazon has some great pricing going on right now along with free shipping. Check out here to see if the offer still stands today.

Final Thoughts?

The Baby Trend Expedition Jogging Stroller is a budget friendly buy with some great features. It may not be as easy to push as other high-end strollers, but it will definitely take you a long way. Keep in mind that it is not the most ideal option for high-speed joggers. All in all, it is an awesome buy at such a price.
